Imphal youth club distributes drinking water during lockdown

Pothashanh News Service: Imphal, March 26, 2020: Volunteers of Thangmeiband Youth Organisation on Thursday distributed drinking water to the residents of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, Imphal where from the first Northeast region Covid-19 positive case was reported.

The club volunteers distributed 500 litres of water to families of the area.

They also took up sensitisation measures at the residential area as soon as the first Covid-19 case was reported.

“We are thankful to the brave and dedicated volunteers of the club who came out for the sake of the people in this area while people here stay home in panic, ” said a resident of the Leikai.

The health condition of 23 years old Covid-19 positive girl is reportedly improving. 

“According to state health officials the condition of patient is improving and she may be discharged from the hospital soon. We are taking up candle lighting today to pray for her full recovery,” a club volunteer told Pothashang.

He said the club’s next step is to volunteer supply of food grains including rice at the Lourung Purely Leikai locality covered by the club on the next day.

There has been no other Covid-19 positive  case in Manipur till date.

Big pharmacies were found opened on Thursday in the heart of Imphal city during the lockdown in the state in wake of Covid-19 pandemic.

People who came to fetch medicines maintained social distancing norms of staying at a distance of one meter gap.

Few vegetable vendors were opened at Lamphel area. Groceries were found opened at residential areas where people lined up to get daily requirements.

A petrol pump was also seen opened at Moirangkhom, here.

Roads were very less travelled in the city.
