CM Biren makes urgent appeal to attendees of religious congregation in Delhi

Pothashang News Service: Imphal , March 31, 2020: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has on Tuesday appealed to those from Manipur who attended the religious congregation held this month in Delhi to come forward and test for Covid 19 if there is any.

“If there is anybody from Manipur who had attended the religious congregation, organized by Tablighi Jamaat at Delhi’s Nizamuddin, between March 13 and March 15, you are requested to come forward and get yourself tested for Covid-19. The religious congregation was attended by nearly 2,000 people, including foreigners,” Biren posted on his Facebook wall.

He requested to call helpline number: 1800-345-3818 in this regard.

He said his message was not aimed at spreading panic, it’s a call to act responsibly.

“Assam government is now in possession of a list of 299 persons who were present in and around the hotspot near Nizamuddin Dargah. We’ve alerted dist admins to find out if these people have returned to Assam, and strict instructions issued to quarantine them if they are in the state,” “Assam health ninister Himanta Biswa Sarma twitted on Tuesday.

He updated that “We have received another list of 157 persons from Assam who were near hotspot of Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Dargarh. We are acting swiftly and in best possible manner to quarantine all of them, as and when they reach Assam or those who may have reached.
