CM Biren appeals to disclose travel history

Pothashang News Service: April 2, 2020: In an effort in fighting COVID-19 in Manipur, chief minister N. Biren Singh appealed to the people of Manipur who had travelled outside the to disclose their travel history.

In a video message on Thursday, he said out of the 10 persons from the state who had participated in the Tablighi Jammat Congregation at Delhi, one person has tested positive for Covid-19 being the second person to be tested positive for Covid-19 in the state.

As a precautionary measure, the state government has started tracking the movements and contact tracing of the infected patient and all the family members of the infected person have been sent to the quarantine center at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital, Imphal, he said.

He appealed to the people to be transparent about their travel history outside the state as the disease is highly contagious.

Chief minister said Iockdown is essential to save lives of the people and appealed to the people of the state to support and co-operate the nationwide Iockdown to combat the pandemic of Covid-19.

He requested the public to comply with the guidelines and preventive measures laid down by the World Health Organisation (WHO), ministry of health and family welfare, and medical experts to fight the deadly disease.

He said the government has taken up all necessary measures to provide essential commodities and grocery items to the public and assured that there is no shortage of essential items like groceries, fuel and medicines in the state.
