18 Peace Hospital staff turn out negative for Covid-19

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 3, 2020: Eighteen staff of Peace Hospital and Research Institute, Imphal turned out to be negative according to sources fromĀ  Jawajarlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal.

According to the source these patients had contacts with Covid-19 positive person from Lilong.

They will continue to be at the quarantine centre, said a press release by Covid-19 common control room.

The Lilong Covid-19 patient was treated at the hospital from March 20-22 and he was one of the 10 persons from Manipur who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz at Nizamuddin in Delhi.

The Covid-19 test result of 11 family members of the patient conducted at Regional Institute of Medical sciences (RIMS) was still waiting by the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, authorities were able to identify four persons from Thoubal who were with Lilong Covid-19 patient at the same Air India flight from Delhi on March 11. Sources said, out of the them three persons were already in home quarantine and the other person was put in home quarantine since Thursday.

“All the 31 high risk co-passengers of Covid-19 positive person of the Air India flight of March 11 are now traced and contacted. All the 31 co-passengers are found to be free of symptoms. However, they will continue self quarantine at their respective home and will be put under surveillance as per protocol,” said the statement of Covid-19 common control room.

A three kilometer radius from the house of Lilong Covid-19 patient was already put under confinement by Thoubal district authorities. In this regard, DC Thoubal had issued an order issued on April 2 putting an area in Lilong sealed from Jama Majid Road in north to Ngangou Road/Buya Salam Road in the south and NH 102 on the east to Imphal River on the west.

As per the order, the geographical area given is put under containment thereby restricting entry and exit of people from the area, closing all schools, offices and banning of public gatherings of any type.

Any violations of the containment order shall be deemed punishable under Section 188 of IPC, it said.

Subsequent upon the confirmation of a positive case of Covid-19 at Lilong, Turel Ahanbi, Salam Makha, Darul Uloom Mathak an active search of symptomatic cases by District surveillance team of Thoubal as per micro plan has been conducted. No symptomatic case has been detected in the
locality of the positive case, said the statement of Covid-19 common control room.

The state government had notified RIMS and JNIMS as hospitals with dedicated Covid -19 treatment blocks of 50 beds each.
