Reuseable mask for newspaper hawkers in Manipur

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 5, 2020: Manipur government handed over 300 reusable masks to president, Editors’ Guild, Manipur to distribute them free of cost to newspaper hawkers.

The masks, locally produced, are washable, reusable and last much longer as they are made of local cotton cloths.

These masks are now highly recommended by ministry of health and family welfare, which has already circulated how to stitch such masks as these are much more safer than the using surgical masks over a long period.

While surgical masks are not reusable and need to be disposed off properly, these stitched masks can be washed properly after daily use and can be use repeatedly by following the hygienic procedure.

The masks were procured from local handloom artisans and tailors through Manipur Handlooms and Handicrafts Corporation Ltd with CSR funds it could muster in this short period of time to ensure safety of officials working for the government and the people.
