Manipur governor donates 30% of one year’s salary to PM CARES fund

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 6, 2020: Manipur governor Dr. Najma Heptulla has donated 30% of her salary for one year, starting from April, in the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fund (PM CARES Fund) total amount of which is Rs 12,60,000 in view of the impending serious Covid-19 pendamic situation

The outbreak of Coronavirus,( Covid-19) pandemic has brought untold miseries to the people of all over the globe in general and our country, in particular. The dreaded pandemie is affecting people of our country and the government has been taking necessary precautionary measures to prevent/contain this dreaded disease on a war-footing manner, Heptulla said in a statement released on Monday.

“We are relentlessly endeavouring to follow the instruction of the medical experts and also follow the appeal of the Prime Minister to remain at home and maintain social distancing which is for safety and security of our people and the country,” she added.

At the request of few Indian social activists in USA, Heptulla made an appeal to Indian community in USA to contribute
generously for the PM (CARES Fund). “If we stand together we will survive and successfully overcome the pandemic,” Heptulla said.
