Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 6, 2020: The first person who was tested positive of Covid-19 in Manipur has been confirmed negative of the disease in the final test conducted on Monday.
Sharing the news on a Facebook post, state health and family welfare minister, L. Jayentakumar said, “The much awaited news of our daughter’s final Covid-19 test report has come out negative”.
“Now she is completely free from Covid-19 virus,” he added.
He praised medical department and doctors and staff of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for the achievement. “It’s a huge achievement for the whole medical department in general and the doctors and staffs of JNIMS in particular”, the health ministrr said in his post.
The 23 years old girl from Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai was first tested positive for Covid-19 on March 24 after coming back from England. Since then she is undergoing treatment in JNIMS, Imphal.
The Manipur government’s Covid-19 Common Control Room on Sunday said Covid-19 positivity in the state is 1.12% and a total of 178 Covid-19 tests were conducted.
In a press statement, it said that the state government has also approved a discharge policy for persons who are kept in quarantine centres in the state. All high risk category inmates will be tested for Covid-19 before discharge but the low risk category will be discharged without testing as per the policy.
The low risk category will be put under home quarantine for another 14 days and if symptom develops during those period test will be conducted, it added.
