Manipur government serves 7 days ultimatum to employees to surrender NFSA cards

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 8, 2020: Manipur government has directed government employees to surrender National Food Security Act, 2013 cards within seven days from Wednesday warning that the state government will take disciplinary action if failed to surrender the cards within the week.

A notification served by the state home department on Wednesday said the data available with the ministry of consumer affairs and food and public distribution, Government of India indicates that 88.56% of rural and 85.75% of urban population (based on 2011-12 NSSO Data) of Manipur is covered by the National Food Security Act, 2013. Reports available indicates that number of government employees, who are ineligible, have been issued NFSA cards under the National Food Security Act, 2013 and are getting rice under the scheme at the cost of eligible households who have not been issued cards.

“Therefore, it has been decided to direct all government employees, who are in
possession of the National Food Security Act, 2013 Cards to surrender the same by contacting the offices of the concerned deputy commissioners through phone or e-mail within seven days from today failing which disciplinary action will be taken under CCS(CCA) Rules, 1965 as adopted by the government along with action under section 52 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005,” the notification said.
