JDU to contest in 20 seats – Cautions over economic blockade

Announcing two contesters of JDU its state unit’s president Hankhanpao Taithul today declared the party will contest in twenty seats in the ensuing state legislative election.

The party president announced Takhellambam Samananda as JDUs candidate for Keirao assembly constituency and Md. Ajijul Haque for Khetrigao assembly constituency. Samananda was a BJP intending candidate but left BJP.

In the function held at its state office in Imphal welcome Md. Jalal-Uddin of Mayang Imphal assembly constituency and Haji Asraf Ali of Khangabok assembly constituency.

Hankhanpao said the JDU Manipur unit is allying with the left and democratic front.

Ex president of the party’s state unit and its parliamentary board chairman M. Tombi said the economic blockade imposed by UNC has almost completed three months and airlifting the fuel oil to the state cannot not solve.

UNC’s member’s family are also not spared by the blockade and they should withdraw the blockade. Saying that the central force is of no use securing the lifelines in the state which has no railway connectivity the BJP and Congress should stop blaming each other over it. Instead they should try to make out a solution, said Tombi.
