Deputy CM Gaikhangam escapes ambush

Deputy chief minister Gaikhangam who also holds the portfolio of home minster was today ambushed by unknown armed persons at Thingkhongjang in Noneh district today morning while he was on his to his resident at Gaidimjang of Khoupum.

Gaikhangam was to hoist his congress flag at residence in connection with the ensuing state assembly election that falls next month. He and his team were about 7 kms away to reach Gaidimjang when the attack took place at around 8: 30 am. He was escaped unhurt and escorted safe to reach his residence at around 10: 30 in the morning. No one was found hurt in the attack.

In another attack one IRB rifleman who was on his duty at a location in Khoupum Part III was injured at his right thigh on the right. He was identified as Yumnam Jenish from Thangmeiband Siman Leikai. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.

So far no individual or group has claimed on the attack till the filing of the report.
