Jelson Singh unbeaten 29 runs knock guided Thangmeiband Athletic Union with 8 wickets victory over RRCC Churchandpur in the 1st MCA- T-20 Luwangpokpa Trophy 2017 played at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
In a low scoring match, RRCC batsman a harrowing time managing the medium pace attack of Thangmeiband team, managing just a paltry total of 78 runs for 10 wickets from 19.2 over. Haokalen got 27 runs while Hengjothnang made 10 runs among the top run getter.
Leading the pace attack for Thangmeiband was Pritam Singh who claimed 5 wickets while Sunil Singh bagged 3 wicket and Sinage got 1 wicket. In reply, Thangmeiband batsman reached the target easily with Jelson remanining not out with 29 runs while Sunil Singh got 20 runs and Amarjit Singh fetch 11 runs. Pritam Singh for his 5 wicket haul was adjudged the man of the match.
Veteran cricket: Champ Khagempalli posted 10 runs victory over Kuki Sporting Club in the 14th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2016-17 played at Oriental College and Model Higher Secondary School ground.
Champ Khagempalli winning the toss, opted to bat first with I.Ibobi Singh leading the charge with 42 runs to make 148 runs for 8 wicket from 30 overs. Imo Singh contributed with 33 runs. Among Kuki Sporting bowler, Lalboy and Martin fetch 2 wicket each while Lulun and Kelpao chip in with 1 wicket each.
Making a desparate effort, Kuki Sporting Club fell short by 10 runs as over ran short, losing 7 wickets in the process. Lendu and Lalboy hit an identical 24 runs each while Anggu hit 31 runs. Champ bowler Jodiba, Gopal, Tomthang bagged 2 wickets each while Sanjoy Singh fetch 1 wicket each.
