Blast injures eight

At least eight persons including women were today injured when an Intensified Explosive Device blasted at the residence of Naga People Front (NPF) candidate of Ukhrul’s Fungyar constituency at Langol in Imphal West near Shija Hospital.

The IED which was said to have planted my miscreants at the toilet complex of the NPF candidate Keishing Leishiyo’s residence and the blast took place at around 5:00 this evening. The blast injured the father of the candidate K. Shamphang.

All of them were rushed to the Shija Hospital and Research Institute. Two were said to be critical.

So far no one has claimed responsible for the blast till the filing of this report.

The state legislative assembly election falls on March 4 and 8.
