Sunil Singh guided Thangmeiband Athletic Union with his 46 runs knock to beat Uripok Cricket Club in the 1st MCA-T-20 Luwangpokpa Trophy 2017 played at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a target of 77 runs set by Uripok Cricket Club, Thangmeiband Athletic Union reached the target easily with Sunil hitting 46 runs while Amarjit Singh got 12 runs, losing 2 wicket in the process from 11 overs. Uripok bowler Satish and Nishikanta picked up a wicket each.
Earlier, Satish Singh and Durgesh steadied the innings hitting 30 runs and 16 runs respectively but ran out of partner to put a mere 77 runs from 19.1 overs. Thangmeiband bowlers Pritam picked a hattrick while Sinet, Kabir and Chitranjan claimed 2 wicket each and Sunil fetch a wicket. Thangmeiband batsman Sunil Singh claimed the man of the match.
In another group league match, TCMDC Thongju posted 4 wicket win over PSC Khuyathong.
PSC Khuyathong in their innings put up 71 runs for 10 wicket from 20 over with Joy Singh hitting an unbeaten 17 runs while Bungoraj got 19 runs and Vicky with 12 runs. The pick among the TCMDC bowler was Sanaton who claimed a hattrick, for his man of the match award while Suraj Kh too claimed a hattrick as well. Seitendra and Babulu got a wicket each.
TCDMC reached the target in 17 over losing 6 wicket in the process with Bijesh remaning not out with 10 runs. Dhanashyam with 19 runs and Anand with 14 runs were the other contributors. PSC bowler Ozzy, Kala Singh and Prasanta bagged 2 wicket each.
Veteran cricket: Youth Welfare Club, Langthabal beat DSU Kwakeithel by 77 runs in the 14th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2016-17 played at Oriental College and Model Higher Secondary School Ground.
YWC batsman Kumarjit was unlucky to miss his century by one run but gave his team a respectable total of 195 runs along with his teammates for 6 wicket from 30 overs. DSU bowler Manikumar and Somorjit claimed a hattrick each.
In reply, DSU managed to just 118 runs for 9 wicket from 30 over with Manikumar making a decent 35 runs, but not enough to save the match. Premchan claimed 2 wicket.
