Security forces recover explosives

A team of Imphal West police and 6 Assam Rifles today recovered a black polythene bag containing explosive materials on a roadside canal at Narankonjil near a crematorium which is under Wangoi police.

The combined team team while doing frisking and checking at around 3.30 pm detected a black polythene suspected to contain explosive materials on the roadside canal suspected to be dropped from a red Maruti car which turned back and drove after seeing the frisking and checking team .

When an expert team opened the polythene found the explosive materials- Explosive Gel – 35 nos (4.375 kgs), PEK bar – Approx 250 gms, Gun Powder – 200 gms, Detonators – 06 nos., Sharpnels – 3 packets, Electric Wires – 10 m and Cordtex – 05 x 10 cm wires.

The explosive materials have been disposed off at the Chandranadi river bank at around 6.05 pm.
