21 die in separate road mishaps

At least twenty one persons including women died and nine others injured in four road accidents today.

The first accident took place near a bridge between Makhan Tibo and Chakhumai area of Senapati district along the Imphal-Dimapur road at around 3: 30 this morning. In the accident an Imphal bound tourist bus bearing registration number MN01 4 A9503 feel into a gorge by the Makhan village. In the accident 11 persons died.

The second accident took place along the other National Highway which connects Imphal and Jiribam. A passenger Tata Winger mini bus which was heading towards Imphal felt the accident between Khonshang and Irang. Nine died including two women and injured six others.

The third incident took place at Lairou Ching along the Imphal-Dimapur road when a truck hit a hillock which had killed the driver instantly and injured its handyman.

Both the second and third mishaps occurred at around 12:30 pm.
The fourth incident took place at Moirang which injured two persons this afternoon at around 2 pm says another report.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh who is in Delhi expressed his grief when he heard about the first accident and assured of possible extend from his government side.

Deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar visited the injured persons at hospitals where the injured persons were rushed in from the national highways.

Governor Najma A. Heptullah has also condoled and prayed the almighty to give strength to the bereaved family members.
