Cycle rally demands quick justice against rape

Pressing for quick justice against rape cases and other crimes against women Youth’s Forum for Protection of Human Rights spearheaded a cycle rally in two districts, today.

About 150 supporters participated in the cycle rally that carried the slogan “Save Women Punish the Rapists”.

The rally began from the Thangmeiband Atheletic Union ground in Imphal West district and ended at Khurai Lai Khutlembi ground in Imphal east district.

Advisor of the youth’s forum U. Jenison said justice has been delayed either way by negligence in investigation or by the court. But in the case of April 14 Phaknung gang rape case police investigation was fast and cooperated people well, however delayed to punish the rapist, added Jenison.

There are 15 recorded rape cases for this year till date including the April 14 Phaknung rape case so far no rapist has been punished according to the youth’s forum.

Seven boys were involved in the gang rape of two school girls on April 14 at Phaknung village, Khurai. Imphal East. Six of the rapists were said to be Juveniles. All the seven were arrested on April 18.
