GOVERNMENT SUSPENDS FOREST DEPUTY RANGER

Principal chief conservator of forest and head of forest force has suspended Md. Altaf Ali Khan, deputy ranger, beat officer of Monloi beat office, Chandel forest division for dereliction of duties.

In an order issued today by the principal chief conservator of forest and head of forest force, Kereilhouvi Angami it was stated that Ali Khan was suspended with immediate effect and continuance in the service shall be prejudicial to the proposed inquiry as contemplated for negligence of duties.

During the period of under suspension Ali Khan shall continue to the divisional forest officer of Chandel forest division.

Ali Khan shall be entitled to subsistence allowance as par rules, added the order.

Forest and environment minister Th. Shyamkumar intercepted 14 trucks loaded with logs, illegally brought from Myanmar along Kamjong in Ukhrul on Wednesday.

The trucks ferrying pine wood and kangara wood logs, were intercepted at the Finch Corner, 26 kms from the Ukhrul Town. The truck drivers who were taking the logs to the neighbouring state of Nagaland possessed fake transit pass.

Shyamkumar advised the officers of the forest department to perform their duty diligently and sincerely so that the department can achieve the set target revenue of Rs 100 crore annually.  He also warned that no illegal activities will be allowed in the department.
