Indigenous Art form of the state to be preserved: L. Jayantakumar Singh

Art & Culture Minister Shri L. Jayantakumar Singh has said that the indigenous form of art and culture of the state should not only be protected but also necessary to be preserved .Attending as Chief Guest at the Inaugural function of a 3-day Kanglei Haraoba Cum Lai Haraoba Festival at Government dance College, Palace Compound Imphal today Minister expressed his concern about the changing trend of art and cultural activities in the state. Organising such festival will give an opportunity to the students of the Government Dance College to show their talents, he added. He also expressed his desire to organise this Lai Haraoba Festival in a more organised  grandly next year with the participation of Chief Minister and other dignitaries. Minister sought people’s participation and cooperation to promote our indigenous form of art and culture. He also wished that organising such festival  brings peace and integrity in the state.

Attending the function as President retired Art & Culture Commissioner R.K Nimai  said that we need to maintain the correct form of Lai Haraoba which have been in practice since past many years.

Later, different cultural activities were also performed by the students of the college. The festival was organised by Government Dance College under the aegis of Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur. (DIPR)
