BISWAJIT HOLDS MEETING ON HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT

Public Works, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, IPR, Administrative Reforms and Training, Commerce and Industries and Power Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh met One Million Hockey Legs founding executive business development Shri Rob Van Ness and held a long discussion on how to promote hockey from the grass root level in the State. The latter called on the Minister at his New Secretariat Office, this evening.

Following the meeting, the Minister said in January 2014, a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Indian and Dutch governments concerning sports development.

Minister Biswajit also said that, according to the One Million Hockey Legs executive business development, the project was initiated in different States of the country under this MoU and now they want to initiate the project in Manipur to develop the sport from the grass root level.

He said this will not only develop sports in the country but also improve bilateral relations between the two countries, where hockey has been of interest since a long time back. Minister Biswajit also feted Rob Van Ness with a local shawl and memento of the Kangla Sha.
