GOVT DETERMINED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE INFRASTRUCTURES TO SCHOOLS: SHYAMKUMAR

Stating that education is the backbone of the Nation, MAHUD Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar today said the State Government under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh is determined to provide adequate infrastructure to all the schools in Manipur.

Minister Th. Shyamkumar made the statement after inaugurating Poiroukhongjil High School in Andro Assembly Constituency (A/C), Imphal East constructed under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan – RMSA (2013-2014). 976 students are currently enrolled in the school. The school infrastructures are developed under the funding of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

Shyamkumar, who also holds portfolio of Town Planning, Forests & Environment and Horticulture & Soil Conservation, assured the teachers that all necessary infrastructures, including staff quarter will be provided. He also promised construction of a multi-purpose hall for the school so that the students are able to perform cultural as well as entertainment programmes, adding that the children also need entertainment activities apart from textbooks.

Minister Shyamkumar said around 14-15 schools in his constituency have been upgraded under his supervision and said it gives him immense joy and happiness when students especially girl students from economically backward background get a chance to study free of cost in these schools.

Nanda Kumar Singh, Deputy Secretary Education (S) & Additional State Project Director RMSA, Manipur L. Nandakumar Singh assured that he will put up a demand to the Ministry of Human Resource Development for additional computers and staff quarters for schools under RMSA.
