Blast injures four

Four persons were injured at an IED blast, which took place when an army vehicle was passing the Soibam Leikai road crossing area, this morning.

It was suspected to have by planted by an armed group to attack the army.

The bomb was planted to a dismentled vehicles lying by the car workshops. The blast hit a car bearing registration number MN 01G 5752 and injured four civilians. They were identified as Wangkheimayum Ibomcha (50) and R.K. Amusana Meieti (43) both from Wangkhei Khunou, Md. Ahmed Khan (43) from Khurai Ahongei crossing, and Md. Sahid Khan (35) from Yairipok.

Ibomcha and Ahmed were taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, but discharged after given medical aid.  The other two were also of minor injury.

“The bomb blasted suddenly when I was driving with my mason (Amusang) near an army vehicle and I was injured a little at the forhead”, said Ibomcha.

Three of tyers of the car were punctured, the oil tank was leaked and side glasses were destroyed. I thanked God for saving my life even if my car was destroyed, added Ibomcha.

The victimes condemned the blast an appealed not to repeat such act in crowded places.

So far till the filing of this report no individual or group has clamed responsible of the blast.
