Demand against fresh recruitment

Imphal, September 14: Pressing the government to fulfill a list of demands the out sourced and engaged staff of Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited today staged sit-in at different parts of the state their cease work strike that was launched yesterday.

They were demanding to give them priority to in the fresh recruitment, regularisation of the out sourced and engaged staff and regular payment of monthly remuneration.

“Former general manager of MSPDCL told us verbally during June-July to fulfill our demands against fresh recruitment of staff. But recently the new general manager verbally informed us that all the old non regular staff will be removed and take up fresh recruitment, added Vikash”, said Nandeibam Vikash, who was among the protestors at Keishampat Imphal West.

There are at present about 6, 000 non regular staff among which many has been serving the electricity department for 15 to 20 years. The protestors demanded regularisation in the respective posts and recruit us if fresh recruitment is to be conducted, said another protestor.

In 2015, many among the staff were given training for Junior Technical Assistant under PMVKY scheme phase wise, each of 45 days. Some of the staff have passed away before they were absorbed as regular staff. Their families are suffering. The state power company should also give priority to them in the recruitment, said Vikash.
