Imphal, Sept 14: Moreh police personnel have been hectic fighting against alcohol while at the same time trying to prevent possible immigration of Rohingya refugees.

With the reports of Rohingyas issue fills the air, the state police has been acting alert round the clock to prevent entry of refugees from the Myanmar side towards the border town Moreh. So far there has been no report of any unwanted situation at the border in this regard.

A team of Moreh police under the supervision of SDPO Moreh seized foreign liquors and beers.

Large quantities of liquors have been flowing in through the border.

Moreh police says the seized alcohol will be handed over to the excise department.

In another move against alcohol and drugs a team of Lilong police under the supervision of SDPO Thoubal yesterday arrested one person along with contraband drugs from Lilong Alia Lamkhai at around 6:30 pm.

The arrested person was identified as one Md Kheiruddin (29 yrs) son of Md Allauddin of Lilong Yangbi Leikai.

The police team seized 5 numbers of ‘Bestorex’ cough syrup bottles containing 10ml of codeine in 100ml bottle each and 57 numbers of SP capsules from the possession of Md Kheiruddin.

A case has been registered at Lilong police station.
