Imphal, September 19: Four students were injured in police clash while four important members of All Manipur Students’ Union were apprehended by the police.

The incident took place when agitating students spearheaded by AMSU stormed at the Minority and Other Backward Classes office in Imphal, demanding to clear the long pending scholarships for two academic years.

AMSU condemning the police act alleged the government for utilising police force against the students protesting for their genuine demands.

Instead of listening to our demands and look into the matter for the students, the ruling government who is responsible for misuse of crores of Rupees that are meant for the students welfare, used police force to suppress student’s voice said Manjit Sarangthem, president AMSU.

The police fired smoke bombs and even the male police personnel lathi charged girls. We condemned this police action, added Manjit.

We now understand how this government think of the people, said the student leader.

The rights of the students should be respected. The apprehended students should be released without conditions, demanded AMSU.

It also cautioned for further agitations until the demands are fulfilled.
