‘PARYATAN PARV’ KICKS OFF IN MANIPUR

Imphal; October 5, 2017 (DIPR): The celebration of “Parytan Parv” being celebrated nationwide from 5th to 25th October, 2017, kicks off in Imphal today at Kangla. Paryatan Parv is basically a celebration of tourism and it will be about bringing tourism at the centre stage in those 21 days (5TH OCTOBER TO 25TH OCTOBER). Paryatan Parv will have three main components –

(i) Dekho Apna Desh:  To encourage Indians to visit their own country. This will include Video, Photograph and Blog Competitions of sites visited during the Event, Stories of India through Travelers’ Eyes, on Social Media, Tourism related Quiz, Essay, Debate and Painting Competitions for Students, Television Campaigns to promote travel to J&K and N.E. States.

(ii) Tourism for All:  Tourism Events at sites across all States in the country. The activities at these sites will include illumination in and around the Sites, Cultural Programmes of Dance, Music, Theatre, Story Telling, Sensitisation Programmes for Stakeholders around the Sites, Tourism Exhibitions, Showcasing Culture, Cuisine and Handicrafts / Handlooms, Guided Heritage Walks, etc. These will be “People’s Events” with large scale public participation.

(iii) Tourism & Governance :Interactive Sessions & Workshops with Stakeholders on varied themes: (a) Skill Development in Tourism Sector, (b) Innovation in Tourism, (c) For inducting Ex-servicemen as service providers for Taxi Operation, (d) Developing Rural Tourism in locations near established Destinations and (e) Community Sensitisation Workshops on Homestay and B&B Opportunities

The function was organised by Manipur Association of Tour Operators (MATO) in collaboration with Indiatourism, Manipur. Shri Meinam Bhorot Singh, Ex- MLA and Former President, BJP Manipur Pradesh, Shri L. Ashok Kumar, Manager of Publication, DIPR, Manipur, Km. Ngangkham Lilabati, Tourism Officer, Indiatourism and Shri Nivaran Nongthombam, General Secretary, MATO flagged off the function.
