NEMCHA KIPGEN INUAGURATED 64TH ALL INDIA COOPERATIVE WEEK CELEBRATION, 2017

Imphal, November 14, 2017(DIPR): Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Smt. Nemcha Kipgen today inaugurated 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration, 2017 held at Laishram Leirak Community Hall, Imphal with the theme “Empowering People through Digitalisation of Coop.” It is organised by Manipur State Cooperative Union in collaboration with Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur and District Cooperative Officer, Imphal West.

Stressing on the theme, Chief Guest of the function, Cooperation Minister Nemcha exclaimed that digitalisation is the essential elements for successful operation of cooperatives as we are now residing in the global village. Digitalisation has now replaced the earlier manual and traditional activities that consume much time, labour as well as energy. With the advent of digitalisation, there are growth in revenue and has impacted the cooperatives by promoting business opportunities as well as encouraging a healthy competition, she asserted.

Minister Nemcha also highlighted that the success or failure in the administration of a cooperative society depends upon efficient management and professionalism. Without proper management and professionalism in any field, the organisation or cooperatives or a state or country cannot march towards the path of development.

The inaugural function which was held with the topic – “Good Governance and Professionalism,” was also attended by Chairman, Handloom & Handicraft Development Cooperation  Ltd. Shri S. Rajen Singh, Principal Secretary (Coop.) Government of Manipur, Shri J.C. Ramthanga, Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Manipur Shri H. Rupachandra Singh and Director, ICM, Imphal Dr. N. Ranjana Devi as President and Guests of honour respectively. As part of this function, ‘Manipur Cooperative’ journal was also released.

It may be mentioned that Cooperative Week is celebrated every year by National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), which is the only Apex body of cooperative movement from 14th to 20th November. The main objective of these weeklong celebrations is to highlight the achievements of cooperative movement and to plan for future strategies.
