Biren inaugurates Archaeological Museum; launches battery vehicle service at Kangla on Sangai festival eve

Imphal, November 20: Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh today inaugurated an Archaeological Museum, and launched battery operated vehicle service inside Kangla fort.

Biren Singh said battery vehicle service would give convenience to visitors especially senior citizens and differently-abled persons, who wish to sightsee the historic fort.

Four battery run vehicles have been made operational inside Kangla Fort from today, ahead of the Manipur Sangai tourism festival. The drivers are women and they are engaged with the motive of gearing women empowerment. Every vehicle will have a trained tour guide each.

He also expressed desire to have a coffee table book on Kangla, which has vital information about the sacred fort.

He said the helipad at Kangla need to be shifted so as to preserve the ground as traditional polo ground where king Kyamba played Sagol Kangjei in the 15th century.  

Stating that he sometimes comes across instances of victimising helpless police personnel, Biren Singh said he would not tolerate any form of victimisation and unwanted ill-treatment meted out to police and state employees. Action will also be taken up against the employees who indulge in any form of irregularity, he added.
