Lifter Mirabai Chanu creates history

Imphal, November 30: Saikhom Mirabai Chanu of Manipur became the first Indian to win gold after two decades in the World Weighting Championship being held at Anaheim, CA in USA.

Today the 48 kg category lifter created world record by lifting 85kg in snatch and 109kg in clean and jerk to total an impressive 194kg.

The 23 years old young lifter had won medals in commonwealth games and became an Olympian in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the same weight category.

Mirabai Chanu is the daughter of Saikhom Kriti Meitei and Tombi Leima , resident of Nongpok Kakching Laimaning, Imphal East.
