BISWAJIT INAUGURATES SDC OFFICE AT SINAKEITHEI, UKHRUL

Imphal, December 18, 2017(DIPR): Works Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh inaugurated an office of the Sub Deputy Collector at Sinakeithei Village in Ukhrul District, in the presence of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Revenue Minister Shri Karam Shyam, today.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Biswajit said inauguration of the SDC office is part of the government’s objective to bring equal development in the State.

Replying to memorandums submitted today by the local villagers, the Minister assured his commitment to provide safe drinking water, and said although he is not the concern minister he can assure that construction of a proper water supply facility under the NLCPR is under process and that it will be taken up at the earliest.

Minister Biswajit said the Mahadev to Sinakeithei Road is an important road as there is no alternative route for the surrounding villages. He said there is a consideration to develop the road to the status of an inter-state which would connect to neighbouring States like Nagaland under the North Eastern Road Sector Development Scheme. He continued even if the proposal is denied, there is another option to develop it under the Road Infrastructure Development Fund, but the government cannot assure any work before the coming Christmas as it could be a long process.

However, considering the coming festivals and public sentiments, he can assure that some improvement work will be undertaken before the festival, he added.

He also assured to look into construction of Sinakeithei Irrigation from Ihang River dam.

Education is the backbone of a society, the Minister said in response to a demand for improvement of education sector in the area. He asked the Sinakeithei Village Authority to submit the details regarding required man-power at Sanakeithei Chingshang High School so that he may look into it.

He said there can be no development without peace and peace can be brought only when there is trust among the people.

Minister Biswajit also encouraged public participation in bringing overall development in the State.

He further elaborated on several government schemes and further asked the Deputy Commissioner to erect hoardings in the villages to educate the public of the schemes.

Addressing in the function, Karam Shyam said officials and staff of the newly inaugurated SDC office should ensure proper functioning of the office. He assured all required manpower and staff for the office and at the same time said that the staff should not neglect their duties and should attend office regularly.

He also assured efforts to utilise the FCS godown at Sinakeithei, which is lying neglected, at the earliest.

Minister Shyam also said that the present government is concerned with bringing equal development in the State and also assured to set up a SDC office at Thawai in Ukhrul District.

He called upon the people to bring their grievances to the government so that the government may act upon them.

The Minister also spoke at length about the closeness between the different communities of the State.

Commissioner Works and IPR Shri K.Radhakumar said the Sub Divisional Office is a primary unit of district administration and that strengthening of this unit will help in strengthening of district administration.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by MPCB and KVIB Chairman Shri L. Radhakishore Singh, Phungyar MLA Shri K.Leishyo, Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Dr.Harmit Singh Pahuja among others.

As part of the inaugural function, cultural items were also presented by the local villagers.
