Twin blasts in Imphal city injure a lady

Imphal, January 15, 2018: One lady sweeper of Imphal Municipal Council was injured when a twin blasts occurred in Imphal city she was on her duty along the Kangla road.

The first blast was a hand grenade blast inside the PRO defence wing office campus. The second blast took place to the east of the Johnstone Higher Secondary School. The second blast injured the sweeper lady identified as Yenshembam Sobita Devi, 50, wife of Y. Ingo from Langthabal Mantrikhong Awang Leikai. She got splinter injury at back and left leg and admitted to Raj Medicity.

When Sobita and her companions were sweeping in front of the Knagla western gate the grenade blast took place. The second blast which was suspected to be an IED was blasted when they reached the eastern side of Johnstone school.

The hand grenade blast took place at about 5.55 pm when some unknown persons hurled the hand grenade inside PRO defence office campus.

While a team of Imphal city police was investigating at the spot, the second bomb blasted near a fenced plant by the footpath on the eastern side of the school. The blast damaged some parts of the vehicle of the police team on the driver’s side.

 Sobita was out of danger.
