Imphal, January 21, 2018 (DIPR): Punjab National Bank (PNB) triumphs the 8th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship (B Division) 2018, beating Canara Bank 2-0. Sukhjeet Singh of PNB, shirt no. 10 scored the first goal in the 38 minute during the third quarter of the match followed by second goal in 57 minute of the fourth quarter by shirt no. 21, Dalal Satender.
Gracing the closing function of the championship as Chief Guest held at Khuman Lampak Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal today, Education, Labour & Employment Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam said that Manipur has produced many Olympians including players in hockey. He also congratulated Hockey India and Manipur Hockey for successfully organizing the championship.
Further, he also appealed Hockey India to provide such opportunity in future to organize such championships in the state so that we can groom brilliant players which in future can represent India making India International and Olympic champions.
The closing ceremony was attended by MLA Kshetrigao A/C, Shri N. Indrajit, MLA Sekmai A/C, Shri H. Dingo, Director, Youth Affairs & Sports Shri N. Praveen Singh, Treasurer, Hockey India, Shri Tapan Kumar Das, Managing Director, Babina Health Care & Ind. Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Th. Dhabali Singh, officials of Hockey India and Manipur Hockey.
