GOVERNOR GIVES AWAY PRIZES FOR VARIOUS CATEGORIES

Imphal, the 27th January, 2018 (DIPR): The 69th Republic Day Celebration,2018 concluded today with Beating of the Retreat ceremony at 1st Bn. Manipur Rifles Parade ground.

The Governor of Manipur Dr. Najma Heptulla was the Chief guest at the “Folk Dance Festival and Beating of the Retreat” and gave away the prizes for various categories in connection with the celebration.

In today’s  Folk dance competition, altogether 13 cultural troupe both from Hills and Valley participated. The winners of the Folk dance competition were Tribal Cultural Research Centre, Noney district (1st position), Lianda Folk & Classical Academy, Imphal West (2nd position) and Sangeet Kala Sangam, Imphal East (3rd position), the winners received a cash prize of Rs 30,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

The results of the different categories of competition for Republic Day Celebration, 2018 are: In the category of Uniform Contingent, Central Reserve Police Force (Male), Border Security Force (Male) and 9th Indian Reserve Battalion bagged first, second and third position.  In School Contingent, Manipur Public School, Sainik School-A and TG Higher Secondary School stood first, second and third position. In College Contingent; 1st position Imphal College, 2nd Manipur College and 3rd GP Women College, NCC group; 1st NCC Senior Air Wing, 2nd 14th Battalion Sr.NCC and 3rd 65 Bn. NCC Sr. Girls. Mahila contingent; 1st CRPF (Female) 2nd Traffic Police (Female and 3rd Manipur Home Guard (Female). In the Category of Band Party, Central Reserve Police Force Band won 1st postion , 2nd Assam Rifle Band and 3rd Sainik School Band. Social Welfare Department was adjudged the best tableau, while, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Disaster Management jointly got 2nd position and the 3rd position was shared by Health Department and Department of Information and Public Relations. In Gate Construction, the first position was bagged by Forest Department and Sarva Shiksha Abhiya (SSA), 2nd position Agriculture Department and 3rd position by Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.

Special prizes were also handed over to the Chief Engineer (PWD) Manipur, The Chief Engineer (Water Resources Department), Manipur, The Chief Engineer (PHED), Manipur, The Managing Director (MSPDCL),Manipur, The Commandant, 1st Bn. Manipur Rifles, The Parade Commander, Commandant, 7th MR, Director, IPR, Govt. of Manipur, The Commissioner, IMC, The Ex-Servicemen Contingent, The Secretary, Young Eagle Brass Band Party Association, The Social Welfare Department (Differently-Abled platoon), The President, All Manipur Womens’ and Girls’ Arts and State Committee, The Secretary, Meitei Sana Leipak Sana Kangla Yek Taret, The Secretary, Meitei Sana Leipak Kangla Lairembi Taret, The Secretary, Indian Red Cross Soceity, Manipur, The Nupilal and Khongjom War Memorial Society, Yaiskul.

As part of today’s function, 10 Village Chief and Headman were accorded befitting honour by presenting Red Blanket by the Chief Guest.

Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh also give away Swaach Bharat Mission Gramin Award to Chairman and Secretary of Village Water and Sanitation Committee of Phubala (Bishnupur district), Komlathabi (Chandel district), Kangvai (CCpur district), Matai (Imphal East district), Phayeng (Imphal West district), Dibong (Jiribam district), Bungte Chiru (Kangpokpi), Waikhong (Kakching district), Ashang Khullen ( Kamjong district), Dolang (Noney district), Taphou Naga ( Senapati district), Longchal (Tamenglong district), Khangabok part-II (Thoubal district) and Tuinem (Ukhrul district).

Band display and Beating the Retreat were performed by combined Band parties.

Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh, his council of ministers, officials both from Civil and Police has attended the programme.
