Imphal, January 31, 2018: The managers, deputy managers and assistant managers recruited in 2014 and 2016 on Tuesday launched indefinite cease work strike opposing against the One-Time Relaxation Policy and allegedly proposed Lateral Entry to any post in Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) and Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL).

Thirty-six managers of the duel companies have abstained from their works. They said they are compelled to launch the strike even if they don’t want to indulge in any agitation.Since the unbundling of state power department as MSPDCL and MSPCL, there has been huge improvement towards power supply to the state. We the employees who are directly recruited through MPSC since 2014 played a huge role for effective implementation of projects and operation and maintenance of the supply system in the state. In spite of the tremendous contribution, it is a sad that there is no proper human resource policy yet in place for their welfare and proper career growth, said the agitating employees in a press statement.

Instead, it is learnt that there is a programme to by-pass all possible norms and rules to promote senior staffs from the power department through twisted One-Time Relaxation Policy of the government. This has tremendously demoralised all the young and energetic new recruits to even do their daily routine. We are totally against this policy and the allegedly proposed lateral entry to any post in MSPDCL and MSPCL, added the agitators.
