Pothashang Newes Service Imphal, February 6, 2018: Transportation blockade imposed demanding to book the culprit(s) involved in the hit and run case of Ch. Mani Meitei has disturbed the normalcy along the Tiddim and Thoubal line especially at Phougakchao area of Bishnupur district.
The road bandh was imposed by the JAC against the killing of Ch Mani Meitei, Torbung Area with the support of Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Meira Lup and Kangleipak Welfare Organisation.
Bandh volunteers today blocked transportations at Phougakchao area of Torbung by burning tyres.
The JAC’s convenor, Kh Basantakumar Sharma siad Ch. Mani Meitei (55) s/o (L) Ch Amumacha of Torbung, Bishnupur district, succumbed to his injuries after he was knocked down by a passenger vehicle (Winger) at Thoubal Haokha, Kakching district on January 27, at around 8 pm.
On January 31, JAC submitted memoranda to the authorities concerned, including the chief minister N. Biren Singh and the DG Police through the local MLAs, demanding swift arrests of the culprit(s) involved in the hit and run case. But the police and the government have not been able to provide any positive leads regarding the unfortunate incident till date, Basantakumar added.
The JAC had earlier warned to launch intense forms of agitation, including blocking of transportation and winger services along Tiddim Road and Thoubal line on the next day if the government and the police fail to arrest those involved within February 5.
