Women Vendors launch ‘Fast unto Death’ strike; lock IMC


Pothashang News Service, Imphal, February 6, 2018: Women vendors of Ima Keithel (market) today launched ‘fast unto death’ at the Imphal Municipal Corporation by locking its office protesting against providing place to four new vendors at Ima Market number 2.

The market was re-launched on January 22 after repairing the destructions made by the Earthquake that occurred in January 2016.

Hanjabam Binodkumari, Khwai Trustee Development said, “Ahead of the earth quake there are 48 card holders in the set 2 and 3 of the Ima market 2. The IMC officials are trying to add another four vendors in the two sets. We have been obstructing it since January 22. Our voice is not listened. So we launch this fast unto death hunger strike today. We continue until the issue is settled in favour of the 48 vendors”.
