CM Biren announces Rs. 50 crore for state colleges

Pothashang News Service : Imphal, February 24, 2018: Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has announced that under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, RUSA the colleges of the state would get a sum of Rs. 50 crore to improve the infrastructures, laboratories, library and classroom of the college.

Biren made the announcement while launching College Week Celebration, 2018 of D.M. College of Science at the college campus today.

The state government would also share of a sum of Rs 5 crores in this regard, he added.

He said the government has streamlined the process of providing scholarships to the eligible students of the state. He urged the students to concentrate on their studies rather diverting their minds on something else. He assured that the government would open its doors round the clock for any grievance and problems faced by the students.

We all should get involved to bring the change in the society rather relying only on the government and it should begin within ourselves, said Biren.

With the advent of the new government, we are fortunate to have a paradigm shift in the education sector. There is an improvement towards building a strong and positive relationship between the teachers and students in the state. Number of students enrolled in schools have increased manifold, he added.

The new government is working towards bringing emotional integration, rebuilding the trust among the different communities living in the state. Selfish desires and corrupted minds have ruined the state, he added.

Minister for education Th. Radheshyam said such college week is being celebrated after 20 years and it is a sign of change in the education system. He stressed that such celebration would develop and promote health and wellness of the students through participation in game and sports activities. It would also develop self-belongingness, good citizenship, spirituality and general awareness among the students, he added.

The college week includes annual sports meet, book fair, science exhibition and food court.
