Imphal: A series of Press Conference of Head of Departments for Highlighting Developmental Activities of various departments of Manipur Government, organised by Directorate of Information & Public Relations began today at DIPR Office, MST Complex, Moirangkhom, Imphal. The first day of the Press Conference began with the Agriculture Department in the first session with Shri Ph. Rajendra, Director, Agriculture Department stating the developmental activities of the Department.
He stated that the department has undertaken various Centrally Sponsored Schemes with 90:10 Center State Share ratio including Rasjtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana (RKVY), National Food Security Mission (NFSM), Rainfed Area Development (RAD) under NMSA, Pradhan Mantri Kirshi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), etc.
Producing 4,31,020 Metric Ton (MT) of clean rice against the target of 4,94,300 MT during 2017-18, the department has brought 1,87,060 Hectare (Ha) under cultivation against the target of 1,95,000 Ha. The Department is targeting the rice production of 2,725 Kg/ha during 2018-19 against the National average of 2,310 kg/ha during 2015-16. The Department is also targeting to produce Maize, Pulses and Oilseeds more that the national average productivity of 2015-16.
The department has undertaken Mission Organic Value Chain Development on Chak-hao under Central Sector Schemes with 100% CSS.
Under State Plan, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), the department has covered 9,465 farmers up to February, 2018 and has set a target of covering 20,000 farmers till 2019. 18,380.9456 ha has also been covered under this yojna during 2017-18.
3,542 soil samples has been collected and tested from December 2017 to March 2018 as against the target of 15,000 by 2019 under Soil Health Card Scheme. In Cycle-I, 2015-16 to November, 2017 and in Cycle-II, December 2017 to March, 2018, 1,14,522 and 51,785 were Soil Health Cards also printed and distributed respectively.
Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the department has taken up projects for; distribution of quality seeds (paddy, blackgram, maize, soyabean and groundnut, etc.); growth in productivity of Chak-hao, Pea Certified Seed, Mustard Certified Seed, Organic Manure Farmers Training; assistance to agriculture farm mechanisation and infrastructure development like repairing of godown, seed processing unit establishment, market shed, etc.
The Department is also undertaking various developmental activities under Rainfed Area Development (RAD) under National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) which includes Integrated Farming System (IFS), Value Addition and Resource Conservation. The Department is also participating in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) which is a flagship programme with a funding pattern of 90:10 between Centre and State.
The department has also implemented Mini-Mission I (MM I) on Oilseeds Achieve Production under the National Mission on Oilseeds & Oil Palm (NMOOP) which envisages increase in production of vegetable oils sourced from oilseeds, oil palm and Tree Borne Oilseeds (TBOs). An amount of Rs 91.45 lakh is allocated and released for the MM I for the year 2017-18.
Under Mission Organic Value Chain Development (MOVCD), the Agriculture Department is implementing the cultivation of Black Aromatic Rice, Chak-hao. The Mission envisages providing direct access to National Market for the value added premium products of Aromatic Black Rice, Chak-hao.
The MOVCD-NER Scheme is being implemented in the form of Public Private Partnership (PPP). Four Farmer Produce Organisation (FPO) / Farmer Produce Company (FPC) in each district with 500 farmers were formed under the Service Provider engaged by the Department.
During Rabi 2017-18, the Pradhan Matri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) is being implemented in all the districts of the state with notified crop on rapeseeds and mustard. A hectare of land is insured with an amount of Rs 26,666 under the scheme. The total area covered under the scheme in the state is 18380.9456 Ha, which is the highest area covered under crop insurance so far in the state.
