CM Biren distributed loans

Imphal, February 25 (DIPR): Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh distributed loans to 179 persons and self help groups amounting to Rs. 2,35,01000 under Manipur State Co-operative Bank (MSCB) Ltd. at a function held at the Durbar Hall of chief minister’s secretariat today.

Out of this total amount, Rs. 1,38,34,000 was distributed to the persons who approached the chief minister for assistance on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day. Piggery loan of Rs. 51,52,000 was distributed to 56 individuals and dairy loan of Rs. 7,20,000 was handed over to 6 farmers. A total of Rs. 37,95,000 was handed over to 65 SHGs benefitting around 725 families.

Biren Singh said that the loan distribution programme was held to encourage and promote self employment in the state. He lauded the officials and employees of  MSCB for upholding the new government’s mission to help the skilled and hard working unemployed persons.

The government has been able to help the needy through the information and feedback gathered from the personal interactions with the masses on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day. The chief minister stated that today as well, many persons, who approached him for assistance on these two days, were provided financial help in the form of loans. Since the coming of the new government, MSCB Ltd. alone had distributed around Rs. 3.5 crore to different individuals, he said.

Biren Singh expressed pleasure that internationally renowned fashion designer Robert Naorem was among the individuals who received loan today. He informed the media that around 100 schemes/projects would be launched from March 1 to 15 as part of the first anniversary celebration of the BJP-led state government.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh would visit the state on March 14 to attend the anniversary celebration that falls on March 15, he said while adding that BJP National president Amit Shah is also likely to take part in celebration. The chief minister also said he would also seek a confirmation of Prime Minister Narendra’s visit to the state during his visit to the national capital that begins from tomorrow.

Khurai Assembly Constituency MLA L. Susindro and MSCB Ltd managing director A. Subhash Singh were also present at the programme.
