Manipur Hill Journalists’ Union condemns Assam Police action

Pothashang News Service: mImphal, March 13, 2018: The Manipur Hill Journalists’  Union has condemned in strongest terms of the notorious action of Assam Police on March 10 at Zophai, Bairabi, Mizoram, the spot where Zofate Chawlbuk is proposed to be constructed. MHJU term the attack on a journalist is an attack on Freedom of Expression which is enshrine in the Constitution of India.

On that fateful day, the Assam State police had brutally inflicted physical injury to a number of journalists including Mr. H. Lalthuthlunga Zate, a  Journalist who is Correspondent of Manmasi Digest, Manipur based News Magazine and other Mizoram based reporters.

 This merciless action of the Assam Police is a clear case of violation of freedom of Press which calls for condemnation and retributive justice. Let the State government of Assam be informed of its excessive use of force  and quickly arrange  compensation due to the innocent victims.
