Dikho inaugurates water supply schemes

Imphal, 14th March, 2018 (DIPR): As part of the 1 year celebration of the new Government, PHE Minister L. Dikho today inaugurated four Water Supply Schemes in different parts of the state. The newly inaugurated water supply schemes include Augmentation of Kakching Water Supply Scheme under UIDSSMT at Kakching District, Water Supply Scheme at Luwangsangbam, Heingang Makha Leikai, Pangei and Adjoining Villages at Waiton.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Minister stated that the newly inaugurated water supply schemes are mainly for the welfare of the people. He also said that it is a joint venture of the public and the Government. With the setting up of Water Sanitation Management, people will get excess to the clean drinking water conveniently, he asserted. He also appealed the managing team to be a good example to the masses.
The Augmentation of Kakching water Scheme under UIDSSMT cost Rs. 13.27 Crore and has the capacity of 6.3 MLD. The said scheme will provide water to 32,189 people living in and around this area.
The Water Supply Scheme at Luwangsangbam, sanctioned under NRDWP scheme with the cost of Rs. 150 lakh, has the capacity of 0.34 MLD. Water Supply Scheme at Heingang Leikai under NRDWP has the Capacity of 0.25 MLD with the cost of Rs. 100 Lakh. Water Supply Scheme at Pangei and adjoining villages at Waiton has the capacity of 0.71 MLD with the cost of Rs. 560 Lakh.
Kakching A/C MLA, Y. Surchandra Singh, Chingai A/C MLA, Khasim Vashum, Adhakshya, P. Bimola Devi, Secretary (PHED) Nidhi Kesarwani, Chief Engineer, PHED, H. Sunil Singh, Superintending Engineer, Rural Circle-I, H. Bigadhon Singh and concerned officials attended the inaugural function.
