Letpao calls for greater participation of hill people in development process

Imphal, March 14, 2018, DIPR: YAS & Water Resources Minister Shri Letpao Haokip appealed for better participation of people from hill districts in development process of the State. He gave the above opinion while attending the inaugural function of the khonomphai Primary School at Tengnoupal district.

The Minister added that hill people, especially in border towns such as Moreh, need to be properly educated and empowered as policies such as the Act East Policy will benefit them.

The school inaugurated today was constructed under SSA. The event was also graced by Tengnoupal DC Shri Kh.Raghumani Singh (IAS); Tengnoupal SP Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh; ADC; ZEO and many other top officials.

Shri Letpao further added that the problem of shortage of teachers in government schools in remote areas is quite common. He appealed those employees posted in hill schools and not to seek room for utilisation in convenient places by using influences.

The Minister also appealed the villagers to contribute collectively in the successful functioning of the school by properly maintaining the school campus, and assured arrangement of necessary teachers of the school at the earliest.

Giving the presidential speech, DC Shri Raghumani said that the inauguration of the school will bring a positive change in the education sector of the area. He also appealed the parents and society in large to value potential of government schools and to regain their trust in sending their children to government schools. He appreciated the genuine interest of the Minister towards the people of Moreh in every occasion.

Later, the Minister and other dignitaries also inspected the Moreh Government Higher Secondary School on the request of the Principal. There, the Minister enquired about the present problems that the school is facing. On learning that there were inadequate numbers of teachers and rooms among many other shortcomings, the Minister immediately instructed the authorities concerned to build two (2) rooms at the earliest under the Multi-Sector Development Programme (MSDP). Shri Letpao also assured sending back of the teachers of this school, who are currently being utilised in other areas.
