There is the need for knowing our duties as citizens of the country and an effective platform for streamlining the mindset of the politicians, administrators, youths, voluntary organisations and the public in a common direction with trust to avoid chaos and conflicts in our society.
This was stated by consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister at the inaugural function of the 2-Day Workshop on Role of Youths in Peace-Building at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace compound today.
Around 100 youths participated in the workshop.
Youths should try to create a unique identity for themselves in the society by developing good behaviour and habits apart from horning themselves with the non-textual practical skills of life, said the minister.
He drew the attention of the gathering on the significance of developing good thoughts and wisdom by reading good books and also on putting their thoughts into actions to become future pillars of the society.
“A person who knows the importance of the 3 time realms: past, present and future and makes proper use of it will surely become successful in life. Youths should keep good company in the midst of strong peer pressure and other societal influences and perform their respective responsibilities dutifully”, he said.
Indulging in activities in the wrong area and direction beyond our individual set specific duties will lead to social chaos, he cautioned.
The minister tried to convince the youths present at the gathering not to be over-confident and to keep learning lessons at different stages of their lives even from their elders.
Sanasam Bira Singh, MLA Kumbi AC and N Inaocha Singh, president, Kasturba Gandhi Institute for Development, Manipur were present as the guest of honour and the president respectively.
