Assam Rifles celebrates Cheiraoba

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 20: Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter IGAR (South) celebrated the auspicious and pious festival of Cheiraoba at various locations. 15 Assam Rifles celebrated Cheiraoba at Chingarel temple with the locals.

The arrangements for smooth conduct and refreshments for all devotees were done by Sawombung Company Operating Base of 15 Assam Rifles. The festival started with influx of devotees to the Chingarel temple by first light. 15 Assam Rifles had done all arrangements to increase the succor of devotees. Approximately 2500 locals attended the auspicious function and offered their prayers to the Chingarel Devi on the occasion. Andro and Lilong Company Operating Bases of 6 Assam Rifles celebrated the Meitei New Year with locals of Laupauchum and Thiyam Konhin villages respectively. Canchipur Assam Rifles post celebrated the fest by offering rituals, preparation of feast and climbing Langthanbal hillock. More than 100 locals took part and offered prayers at the temple. Singjamei Assam Rifles post celebrated the festival with locals of Singjamei, where approximately 900 locals visited temple of Chinga Lairombi located inside the Sangjamei Camp. All devotees expressed heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for their efforts to increase the bonding with the local populace, said a press statement released by IGAR (S).
