Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak celebrates foundation day

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 21, 2018: The Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK) today observed its 26th foundation day at Manipur Press Club, which recalled the achievements and the journey of the organization formed in 1993.
Secretary general of CLK, Heikham Eurika Chanu said the organisation was formed at Kwatha with an aim to preserve the indigenous tradition and economy of the state with cotton plantation at Kwatha.
President of United Committee Manipur, Johnson Elangbam acknowledged the contribution of CLK and advised the organisation to adapt the and fit into modern and knowledge based social service. Forms of issue has shifted from fake encounter cases and human rights violation to crime against women in the present, he said. The aim of the organisations now should be to bring about movement in organisation in the political crisis of the state such as to frame new practical laws for protection of women, he added.
Chairperson of Manipur state commission for women, K. Sobita, social activist, H. Ibotombi Khuman and president of CLK, Ch. Pakpi Chanu attended as chief guest, guest of honour and president of the function respectively.
