“Eighty to ninety percent of the employees have effectively responded to our cease work strike. This shows that employees support the strike”, said Biken Laitonjam, general secretary of the joint administrative council.
The employees attend the office without taking up any sort of work assigned to them as employees, he added.
The employees are compelled to take up the as the state government fails to convert its promise into practice, said Biken.
An ultimatum was served, with 22 points charter of demand include implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations with increase in dearness allowances, dearness relief and other allowances to the state employees, pensioners and family pensioners with effect from January 1, 2016 to the chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh, on March 10 to accept their demand by March 21 failure of which will invite indefinite cease-work strike on the next day.
It was submitted under rule of Section 22 (1) (a) (b) (c) and (d) of Industrial dispute Act, 1947, Biken added.
We have met the chief minster four times. The chief minister in the last meeting had assured the JAC that he would personally urge the Prime Minister during his visit to the state on March 16. The Prime Minister did not mention any word about the implementation of the 7th central pay during his visit, he said.
He was here to inaugurate the recently held Indian Science Congress at Manipur University.
JAC had also submitted the 22-point charter of demand on October 8, 2016 to the previous government. Since then we have been pressing for our demand till date, said Biken.
All BJP governing states in India has already enjoyed the Central pay. In the North East only Manipur fails to enjoy it, said Biken.
