Education(s) and AAI to construct toilets under CSR

Imphal, March 24, 2018 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam Singh announced that the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Department of Education (S) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for construction of fifteen (15) toilets in the Government Schools of Manipur. The MoU was signed today at the Minister’s office chamber at New Secretariat, North Block.

The MOU for construction of fifteen toilets in Government Schools is signed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy. Th. Radheshyam said that the MOU was signed between the Director Education (S) Shri Th. Kirankumar Singh and Airport Director Airport Authority of India (AAI), Imphal International Airport, Shri S.K. Panigrahi, representing for and on behalf of the Government of Manipur and AAI respectively.

The AAI through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy has initiated the move for promoting infrastructure for convenience of population with a view to improve the sanitation scenario of the locality. AAI under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will be providing fund for Construction of boys and girls toilets in Govt. Schools. The project aims to be carried within twelve months time which will be carried out by the Department of Education (S) by nominating a Nodal officer from both parties.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy is a corporate initiative to assess and take responsibility for the company’s effects on the environment and impact on social welfare. The CSR Expenditure of a company is 2% of the average Net Profits of the Company made during the three immediately preceding financial years.

In the signing concerned officials of both the party were also present.
