Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 30: Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has assured the Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) that he will give clarification over his speech at the gathering at Madhavpur mela, a religio-cultural fair going in Porbandar district of Gujarat.
Representatives of MSF today met the chief minister at its office for more than an hour over the speech which has been termed as controversial by some sections of the society.
“The chief minister has assured us that he will make the clarification on his speech, and for the time being we have suspended our agitation”, said Ngariyanbam Milan, president, MSF.
However the student leader did not disclosed on the points discussed with the CM, but said the CM will make the clarification.
It has been reported that Biren at the Madhavpur gathering had said, “marrying Rukmini, Krishna had bound the Northeast with India”. “In the time of Lord Krishna, there was no separate Arunachal Pradesh or Assam or Manipur. The entire Northeast was one entity. Now, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland are on the border of China. But Lord Krishna made them part of India during his time.”
Condemning the CM’s speech MSF on Thursday blocked half of the airport road for half an hour at Keishampat.
