Adieu to former CM Dorendro

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 31, 2018: Manipur paid tribute to former chief minister R.K Dorendro who passed away on Friday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of medical Sciences Hospital.

Dorendra Singh had been chief minister of the state four times during 1974 to 1993. Before becoming the chief minister, he served the people as the Speaker of Manipur Assembly.

Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh today led hundreds of people in paying tributes to Dorendro, who was laid to rest with full state honour.

Last rites of the late leader were performed at his residential complex at Moirangkhom in Imphal West.

Deputy CM, Y Joykumar, Speaker Y. Khemchand, ministers, MLAs, top civil and police officers and a large number of people also took take part in paying last respect to the former chief minister.

Biren said it is unfortunate for all of us and great loss not only the state but also for the entire country. The late leader would be ever remembered as a respected person as well as great politician of the country, he added.

On behalf of the state government and people of Manipur, the Biren also shared grief with the bereaved family.
