Do not misinterpret history for political mileage: Heingang Congress

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 31, 2018: Heingang Block Congress Committee has urged the chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh not to misinterpret the indigenous history of the state just for political mileage.

It condemned the chief minister for his speech in Gujarat.

The chief minister’s comment has a created a catastrophic fear amongst the people for losing its rich legacy of history, said vice-president of Sawombung district Congress Committee, Wangkhem Shyamkumar. He said Rukamani is not related with Arunachal Pradesh at all. Rukamani is the daughter of Bhishmaka, a royal Vedic Aryan tribe at Haridwar and a festival is celebrated till today at river Ganga in the name of Rukamani.

In the Madhavpur Mela, has stated that in the time of Lord Krishna, there was no separate Arunachal Pradesh or Assam or Manipur. The entire Northeast was one entity. Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland are on the border of China. But Lord Krishna made them part of India during his time.

Shyamkumar said that before making any speeches on history, the state leader should first read history thoroughly.

President of Heingang Block Congress Committee, Ng. Brojen, said the clarification made by media advisor to the chif minister, Irengbam Arun today is condemnable and is false to the greatest extent. He further stated that Manipur public will not remain silent until a clarification is made upon this.
