Lone cycle tour on “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” sets off

Imphal, April 3: Taking the slogan “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, a student of DM college, Imphal today set off his lone cycle rally that targets to reach Delhi.
The lone cycle rally was flagged off at the western gate of Kangla, the cultural heritage site of Manipur.
The cyclist, Ji-Ingobi Chingtham is the son of Chingtham Ingocha and Tampakleima Devi of Khongjom Sapam Mayai Leikai, Thoubal. He is doing his final semester at DM college.
The student is expecting to complete the cycle rally within 16 to 20 days. He planned to visit schools located at rural areas along the way to Delhi.
Ji-Ingobi said women in the country take a big role in the society as a mother, housewife and income earner as well. But still today the society keeps women in lower status comparing to men despite of their effort and huge contribution to the society, he added.
“We the youth have to play a big role to combat this social evil. That is the reason why I take up this cycle rally”, said Ji-Ingobi. “We have to serve our motherland when we are young and active”, he added.
The social welfare department provided a financial assistance of Rs. 60, 000 which the cyclist says is the half of the needed amount of money for his trip. Ji-ingobi thanked the government for its support to his vision
MLA Paonam Brojen of Wangjing Tentha constituency flagged off the cycle rally. He appealed the people to cooperate in such endeavours taken up by anyone to fight for the welfare of the people.
